Bletchingley Community Choir
Established in February 2011, through Arts Partnership Surrey and Tandridge Trust, Bletchingley Community Choir is a contemporary choir for children and adults based at St Catherine’s School, Bletchingley. It has a current membership of over 30, with members from Bletchingley and the surrounding areas.
Led by experienced arts and singing practitioner Philippa Berry, who has worked on a variety of projects across the South East, and has an informal, vivacious conducting style which makes rehearsal inclusive and enjoyable for all from first-time singers to professionals.
The choir was set up as part of a Surrey wide initiative called Singing Surrey which was developed by Arts Partnership Surrey. Singing Surrey celebrated singing and encouraged more people to actively take part in singing. Arts Partnership Surrey worked with the University of Sussex to monitor the positive effects singing had on participants’ physical and mental wellbeing and the results were extremely positive and encouraging and makes the case for more people to be involved to assist with improving and maintaining their levels of wellness.
