National Pool Lifeguard Courses

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is a nationally recognised qualification within the Leisure Industry. The course comprises of physical training and theoretical classroom work, followed by a practical in-water and out-of-water assessment on pool rescue, first aid, CPR and lifesaving skills. There is a minimum hourly requirement to achieve the qualification so 100% attendance is compulsory.

The cost of the course is £240. If candidate’s successfully complete the course and work for Tandridge Trust we will refund 50% of the course fee in their first pay check and 50% once they have completed their 6 month probation period.

To take part in the course all participants need to be at least 16 years of age, and 100% attendance is required. Participants need to be strong swimmers and be able to swim 400m front crawl and back crawl and to be able to swim 50m in under 1 minute and submerge to at depth of 1.8 metres. The course involves theory work and practical work with a written exam at the end.
